Case Study: J15 Furniture

Brief

Junction Fifteen creates award-winning contemporary furniture that’s packed with character and charm. Aimed at both the domestic and contract furniture markets, the brand’s collection is manufactured using high quality sustainable materials.

When the time came to expand the brand’s range, collaborator Lord Design approached us. We had worked for them in the past, providing finishes for their range of bespoke furniture, so it was a natural choice for the company to get in touch with us once again.

We suggested that, as part of their planned range expansion, the company should switch to an alternative manufacturing strategy. When they approached us, Junction Fifteen’s process required them to coordinate the activities of several specialist suppliers to manufacture and finish their products, and they managed all of their logistics in-house.

As our relationship developed and trust grew, we suggested centralising the manufacturing, painting, assembly and shipping with us, simplifying their supply chain management. With us managing future projects, the client would be able to focus on developing their product range.

Design

From concept, working from prototype to final product manufacture, we supported the development of two additional table designs. We had to demonstrate that we understood the client’s brand and that we could produce their award-winning products.

Through a series of trials that took place over two months, we were able to develop production techniques that improved on the client’s existing processes, allowing us to consistently deliver on quality. We were soon able to collaborate with Junction Fifteen to introduce new colours for existing items and new pieces into the range.

Make

We supported the manufacture of this unique, British-designed product range, consolidating the fabrication and assembly processes and sourcing sustainable materials for the tabletops. We now offer an end to end service for the client, from collaborating on the initial concept to delivering working prototypes and manufacturing the final product.

This close working relationship proved invaluable when the client was commissioned to produce a range of apartment furniture for a customer. The customer needed to see physical examples of the designs within a very tight pre-construction schedule, and we were able to create several prototypes within a tight timeframe.

Reveal

Partnering with us proved to be instrumental in the growth of the Junction Fifteen brand. Our collaborative approach has allowed them to continue developing their product range much more rapidly than they were able to previously, growing their market share. We can now fulfil most of the brand’s orders within a couple of weeks and create and finish new products within six weeks, slicing lead times in half and allowing the brand to grow.
